EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a very powerful tool to treat trauma whether it be a single incident devastatingly traumatic event or smaller series of negative events that helped shape how you see yourself and the world around yourself. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing event(s) or require the completion of homework assignments between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, it believes that your brain has all the answers and information it needs to heal itself through its natural healing process.
EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.
